The event is aimed at Irish and EU workers looking for jobs locally and throughout Europe.

It will be attended by local employers and locally and international recruitmnet bodies.

The Minister for Social Protection, Ms Joan Burton, TD, has announced a call for applications under the Disability Activation Project. The Disability Activation Project is co-funded by the European Union under the European Social Fund (Human Capital Investment Operational Programme 2007 – 2013) and the Irish Government. The funding, which will be available for projects in the Border, Midlands and Western (BMW) region will be administered by the Department of Social Protection with the support of Pobal.

Applications for strategic and innovative projects in the Border, Midlands and Western region are invited from organisations who have experience of working with people with a disability. Projects can be funded up until 30th April 2015. Closing date for applications is Friday 13th April 2012.

Description

Twice yearly, the Arts Council offers grants to enable artists and communities of place and/or interest to work together on projects. The scheme covers all artforms: architecture, circus, street art and spectacle, dance, film, literature (Irish and English language), music, opera, theatre, visual arts and traditional arts.
The projects can take place in a diverse range of social and community contexts eg arts and health; arts in prisons; arts and older people; arts and cultural diversity.

The aim of the scheme is to encourage meaningful collaboration between communities of place and/or interest and artists. It is essential that consultation take place between the artist and the community group, so that both parties are involved in deciding on the nature of the project realisation. Group ownership of the art should be maintained at every stage. The project realisation may result in a variety of outcomes.

This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate  from a relevant programme or someone with 2-3 years post-qualification experience to  join an established team working in the area of problem subtance use.

Contract: 10 months fixed term .

Community Work Placement Initiative

Westmeath Community Development (WCDL) are calling on all community and sporting groups to apply for workers under the TUS programme. All costs related to the scheme including payroll and insurance are covered by WCDL. A supervisor will work with the community groups and participants to ensure that all predetermined work is carried out as agreed. This initiative will provide suitable working opportunities for people who are unemployed while at the same time carrying out a broad range of services of benefit to the community and in a variety of community settings.

Eligible Work

The types of work that might be carried out may include:

• Energy conservation work in homes and community buildings
• Personal services and social care of all age groups and persons with disabilities
• Caretaking, securing, supervising of community buildings and spaces
• Renovation of community and sporting facilities, including the regeneration and enhancement of community, recreation and sporting spaces
• Work in support of cultural and heritage activities
• Community administration and community event management
• Coaching for sporting activities
• Recycle and repair of equipment for developing communities abroad-farm tools, bicycles, computers, sewing machines, health equipment.
